Latency in AV over IP, a hot topic. In this video you can see all the steps I have taken the measure the latency of an SDVoE AV over IP system from Aurora Multimedia connected to a NETGEAR 10Gbps Ethernet switch. I avoided using expensive equipment.

After the video was published, I was asked what part of the latency was introduced by the NETGEAR M4300 switch. Well, I measured it by comparing a direct (CAT6a) SDVoE connection with a setup that includes the switch. The outcome is that the switch introduces a latency of about 2 microseconds. That’s peanuts for AV over IP….
